Below is a press release from the Town of Cary about Imagine Cary:
Summit on the Future Beckons Citizens to Imagine Cary
Large scale workshop will be led by national thought leader Christopher Leinberger
CARY, NC – As the Town of Cary continues its comprehensive, multi-year effort to create a new long-range community plan, citizens are invited to share their ideas and opinions on the future of Cary at the interactive, part-presentation/part-workshop Summit on the Future on May 2 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites, 201 Harrison Oaks Boulevard. The Summit will feature Chris Leinberger, a land strategist known nationwide for his thoughtful approach to new urbanism and careful balance of business realities with social and environmental concerns. Throughout the evening, participants will be encouraged to voice opinions on a wide variety of topics using interactive remotes. While the Summit is free, seating is limited and reservations are required; reserve a seat at www.imaginecary.org or call the Town of Cary’s Planning Department at (919) 469-4082.
“Wherever you may live, work, or own property in Cary, the Summit is your chance to share your opinions on the community as it is today and where you think it should be decades from now,” said Scott Ramage, Principal Planner. “While over the next two years we will host smaller scale community meetings, this is really the big chance to be a part of the early stages of identifying and shaping key themes that will be addressed in the final planning document.”
The Summit on the Future is a part of Imagine Cary, the name given by the citizen steering committee to the Town’s unprecedented approach to updating the community’s comprehensive plan. Working with consultant team Clarion Associates, Cary will gain feedback from citizens, businesses and others with a connection to the Town on a wide range of topics and issues related to the Town’s future, such as land use, community development, transportation, housing, environment, economic development, and related topics. At the end of two years, these diverse planning efforts will be crafted into a single overarching community vision to be known as the Cary Community Plan, which will help guide the Town for the next 20-30 years.
For more information on the Summit for the Future, including sponsorship opportunities, and the overall community plan, visit www.imaginecary.org, search “Cary Community Plan” at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 469-4082.
